Eventing Live Scoring — a Reel Neet Solutions service

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what information Eventing Live Scoring (the "Service") handles, why, who can see it, how long it is kept, and what choices people have. The Service is provided by Michael Wesley Schiff, an individual trading as a sole proprietor under the name Reel Neet Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). Words defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here.
2. The short version
- The Service holds competition information: competitor and horse names, bib numbers, nations, start times, scores, penalties and statuses, and the names and signatures of dressage judges. The event's Organizer puts it there and decides what happens to it.
- Results are public. The leaderboard and live feed show competitor, horse, bib, nation and scores to anyone. Judges' signatures and the full dressage sheets are never public; only the Organizer's office can see them.
- No accounts for the public. Viewers are not asked for anything.
- One cookie, set only when an Organizer signs in to the office. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels.
- We never sell information and never use it for advertising.
3. Our role
For information about an Event, the Organizer is the controller: it decides which competitors and officials are entered, what is published and when. We act as the Organizer's processor (service provider), handling that information on its instructions to run the Service. Questions about why a competitor or official appears in an Event are best sent to the Organizer; we will help, and you can always contact us (section 13).
For the small amount of technical information the Service itself needs (the office session cookie, sign-in rate limiting and server records), we are the controller.
4. Information the Service holds

The Service does not collect: email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, dates of birth, payment details, precise location, photos or video of people, or any information from viewers.
5. Technical information
- Office session cookie. When the Organizer signs in with the office passcode we set one cookie,
es_office, which is strictly necessary to keep the office signed in. It is HttpOnly, limited to this site, and expires after 14 days or on sign-out. No other cookies are set, so no cookie banner is needed. - Sign-in protection. To limit passcode guessing, the server keeps the IP address and time of failed office sign-in attempts in memory only, for up to ten minutes. It is not written to disk.
- Server and network records. Like any website, our hosting infrastructure (including the reverse proxy in front of the Service) may record IP addresses, request times and browser details in short-lived operational logs used for security and troubleshooting. These are not used to identify or profile anyone.
- Stored on devices. Judging devices keep their device link and a queue of not-yet-sent scores in the browser's local storage (and IndexedDB) so they work offline. The public leaderboard remembers which division tab you last chose in local storage. This stays on the device and is not a cookie.
6. Why we process it
We use the information only to:
- calculate and display Results, live and after the Event;
- let the Organizer check, correct, publish and print them (including a rider's copy of a dressage sheet);
- keep an audit trail of who entered or changed each score, so errors can be found and undone;
- keep the Service secure and working; and
- meet legal obligations.
Where European or UK data-protection law applies: the Organizer relies on its own legal basis (usually its legitimate interest in running and publishing a competition, or the entry contract with the competitor). For the technical information in section 5, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service.
7. Sharing
We share information only as follows:
- The public, as described in section 4 (Results by design).
- Our hosting provider, which stores the Service on a virtual private server on our behalf and cannot use the data for its own purposes.
- Google Fonts. Pages load the Archivo typeface from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- jsDelivr. The office's QR-card page loads a QR-code library from jsDelivr, a public content-delivery network, which receives the office user's IP address and browser details. QR codes are drawn in the browser; the device links are not sent to jsDelivr.
- Legal reasons, if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of anyone.
- A successor, if the Service is transferred, under the same protections.
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it to train anything.
8. Retention
- Event Data is kept for the duration of the Event and then for up to 12 months so that Results remain viewable and corrections can be traced, unless the Organizer asks us to delete it sooner or agrees a different period with us. The Organizer can also clear all scores from the office at any time before the server is armed for a live competition.
- Signature images are deleted with the rest of the Event Data.
- The office cookie expires after 14 days. Failed sign-in records are discarded after ten minutes. Operational logs are kept for no more than 30 days.
- Backups may keep a copy for up to 30 days after deletion.
9. Security
Scores are written to an append-only log; nothing is edited in place, and every change is recorded. Office access requires a passcode and a signed, HttpOnly cookie; devices can write only for their own role and phase with their own token, and a device link can be reissued at any time. Traffic is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting personal information we will notify the Organizer, and anyone else where the law requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your information, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Because the Organizer controls Event Data, we will pass requests about a competition to the Organizer and help it respond; you may also contact the Organizer directly. Note that Results are the record of a sporting competition: an Organizer or federation may need to keep a result even if other details are removed.
- EEA / UK: you may complain to your local supervisory authority.
- California and other U.S. states: we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics. You may exercise your rights by emailing us; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
11. Competitors under 18 and children
Young riders compete in eventing, so an Event may include competitors who are minors. The Service shows only what a competition result normally shows (name, horse, bib, nation, scores) and collects nothing from the competitors themselves. Organizers are responsible for any notice or consent their federation or local law requires for minors. The public leaderboard asks nothing of its viewers, whatever their age, and the office and judging devices are intended only for adults appointed by the Organizer. If you believe information about a child should not be shown, contact the Organizer or us.
12. International transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and hosted on a server whose location is chosen by us; information may be processed in the United States or other countries whose laws may differ from yours. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be noted on the Service before they take effect.
